In 2009 Ontario’s Budget proposed a comprehensive package of tax changes. Central to this tax package was the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), which was approved and will come into effect July 1, 2010.

What does this mean for you?

This means effective July 1, 2010 Provincial Sales Tax (PST) will be replaced with a value-added tax that will be combined with the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) to create a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) for Ontario.

The provincial portion of the HST will be 8% and the federal portions will be 5%, for a combined HST rate of 13%.

What does this mean?

All Neighbourhood Wireless subscribers will now pay the HST on their monthly bill.

In all cases this means your monthly cost has gone up because only part of your services from us were previously subject to PST.  There is no increase in our fees in this, jut HST on everything, which is then remitted to the federal government.  Your monthly pre-authorized credit card or automatic debit will increase accordingly.
